Our proposal is framed for the analysis of the area of artistic photography, since this type of image is rich enough to undertake an in-depth analytical study. In the present-day context, we consider the need for a methodology for the study of image to be more urgent than ever, specifically in the case of photography, which will help to answer the question “how does photography mean?”.
A series of various levels can be ascertained in the analysis of a photograph. These range from the strict materiality of the piece and its relation to the historical-cultural context, to an interpretive level.
